SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL BELIEFS
THE SCRIPTURES
The entirety of the Old and New Testament Scriptures are the divinely
inspired Word of God and without error or contradiction. We submit to
them as the only infallible authority in all matters of faith and practice.
We believe that the interpretation of Holy Scripture is accurately
expressed in the Church’s historic, ecumenical creeds and Lutheran
confessions as contained in the Book of Concord, which, in short,
expresses that all Scripture ultimately points to the crucified Christ and
His redemptive sacrifice.
THE TRINITY
We believe in one unique, divine essence which is called and is truly
God, eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
identical in nature, equal in power and glory, and having precisely the
same divine attributes and perfection.
GOD THE FATHER
We believe that God the Father is the first person of the Holy Trinity. He
creates and preserves all things as an act of grace and pure divine
goodness.
THE LORD JESUS CHRIST
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, eternal Son of God and second
person of the Trinity, became truly and fully man, without ceasing to be
God, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin
Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful humanity.
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished our redemption
through His true death on the cross, and that our redemption is made
available to us by His bodily resurrection from the dead.
THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Blessed Trinity
who dwells in all believers, calls humanity through the Gospel, enlightens
with His gifts, sanctifies the whole church on earth, and preserves it in
union with Jesus Christ in one true faith.
CREATION AND THE FALL
We believe that God created the universe as described in Genesis. We
believe that humanity was created in the image and likeness of God, but
through Adam’s sin became alienated from God, acquired a sinful nature,
and came under the Law and the penalty of death.
SALVATION
We believe that salvation is the gift of God offered by grace and not
achieved by any human work or effort but received by faith that is
created by the Holy Spirit by means of the Word of God in the Gospel
and that this faith is manifested in works that are pleasing to God.
SACRAMENTS
We believe that the Sacrament of Baptism, when administered according
to the command of Christ to infants and adults, is a means of grace by
which God offers the forgiveness of sins. We believe that the Sacrament
of the Lord’s Supper is a means of grace and offers communicants in,
with, and under the bread and wine, the true body and blood of Jesus
Christ, and that all who receive the Sacrament in true faith share in the forgiveness of sins procured by Christ’s sacrifice.
WE AFFIRM THE SACRED COVENANT OF MARRIAGE.
God created us male and female, and it is His will and intention that human sexual expression and fulfillment take place only within the boundaries of marriage between one man and one woman.             Genesis 2:24-25; Matthew 19:4-6; Ephesians 5:22-33
