Our Mission

“Loving God, Loving People, And Making Disciples to Share the Gospel Message of Jesus Christ “

The Conservative Lutheran Association (CLA)

Central Lutheran Church is proud to be a member of the Conservative Lutheran Association (CLA). The CLA was formed in 1980 by Lutherans Alert National (LAN); an organization founded in 1965 by a
group of pastors and lay people who were concerned about trends in the American Lutheran Church and other synods which were contrary to the historical beliefs and confessions.  Their primary purpose was to affirm the inerrancy of Holy Scripture. A seminary was founded in 1969, known as Faith Evangelical Lutheran Seminary, Tacoma, Washington.

The CLA is not a synod having hierarchical authority, but a certifying body of standards and accountability and is deferential to the requirements of synodical entities with whom we share common doctrinal understandings. During these turbulent and transitional times within both Lutheranism and the Christian faith at large, the CLA has developed into both a missions organization as well as a certifying agent for pastors and churches holding to a common statement of faith and acceptance of the Confessions of confessional, historical orthodoxy long held by the conservative Lutheran Church.

On several occasions, the CLA has been a place for education and support during transitions of individual pastors into larger, conservative synodical structures such as the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod(LCMS)

Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC)

Central Lutheran Church is also associated with Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ. Central is also Tacoma’s first LCMC affiliated Church! LCMC is an association of Lutheran congregations that share a unified conviction that the Bible is the divine unalterable Word of the Living God. LCMC is committed to the historic confessional Lutheran faith firmly established in the Word and Sacrament. Our focus is discipleship-teaching from the Scriptures and living according to the Scriptures. Our mission is to live through our Freedom in Christ and to fulfill His command of the Great Commission.

Church Leadership Team

Our church leadership team recognizes the Authority of God, and realizes that we are shepherds who serve under the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ. We desire to devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the Word. Our passion and goal is to equip the believers for the work of the ministry until we all attain maturity in the fullness of Christ.
